About Us

Public Interest Development Trust (PID Trust) is a non-profit, non-political, and charitable social development trust formed under the Trusts Act, 1882 and duly registered under the Registration Act, 1908 of Bangladesh (Regd. Deed No. IV-02/2026, Sub-Registrar Office, Gazipur Sadar). The Trust exists to serve the public at large through lawful, transparent, and responsible initiatives aimed at promoting social justice, sustainable development, and the protection of fundamental rights.

The public interest journey that led to the formation of PID Trust began in 2020 through independent initiatives undertaken by its Founder in the areas of social justice, environmental protection, and rights-based advocacy. Prior to formal registration, the Founder engaged individually in civic awareness-building, public accountability efforts, and strategic legal advocacy. During this period, several Public Interest Litigations (PILs) were initiated and pursued in the Founder’s individual capacity concerning public welfare, environmental governance, public safety, education, and enforcement of constitutional rights.

These activities were undertaken prior to the formal legal registration of PID Trust and were carried out solely in the Founder’s individual capacity.

In 2026, these continuing public interest efforts were formally institutionalized through the legal registration of Public Interest Development Trust under the Registration Act, 1908. This institutional transition marked the evolution from founder-led individual action to a structured, accountable, and legally governed charitable entity designed to ensure transparency, sustainability, and long-term public impact.

PID Trust operates exclusively for public benefit and does not pursue any personal, commercial, or political interests. All activities, decisions, and use of resources are governed by the Trust Deed, applicable laws of Bangladesh, and the principles of transparency, accountability, and institutional integrity.

The Trust works across interconnected thematic areas including environmental protection, public health, safe water and food security, education, agriculture, digital and technological development, women’s empowerment, and human rights. Its approach emphasizes systemic, long-term, and rights-based solutions rather than short-term or symbolic interventions.

Our Mission

Governance, Transparency, and Compliance

PID Trust is governed by a duly constituted Board of Trustees responsible for policy formulation, strategic oversight, project approval, and financial supervision.

The Board of Trustees retains ultimate authority over policy direction, financial oversight, and institutional governance.

The Founder serves as the Managing Trustee and, by virtue of office, acts as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), responsible for day-to-day administration and implementation of Board-approved programs.

All financial transactions are conducted through designated bank accounts with joint authorization. The Trust maintains strict financial discipline, undergoes regular audits by qualified chartered accountants, and complies fully with applicable financial, banking, taxation, and anti-money laundering regulations.
